Chrome finish on Crank Baits is truly effect. Outside of their appeal or shelf presence to fisherman, Chrome painted baits catch fish. Some fisherman may question why. Is the main reason that Chrome finish on baits looks the most natural compared to the live bait larger fish feed on?
I would say in some respects yes. Chrome can at a glance look visually similar to many baitfish that almost appear transparent in the sunlight. More so than that, fish don’t see colors thr same way we do. One thing that Chrome may do is reflect the UV light that fish actually do see.
Many times fish target their pray from a significant distance when water clarity allows. With the fact that UV light penetrates deeper and more effectively game fish often locate their prey using the reflected UV light from their prey.
Walleye’s along with many other fish tend to key in on color. Chrome painted Crank Baits hold a special place in most fisherman’s arsenal of Crank Baits. It doesn’t mater if it’s a fishing lure for Bass. A fishing lure for Walleye of a fishing lure for Musky.
